Summer Decor Tips
Cool, light, bright, and airy. All of these, as well as others, are words that are associated with summer. These are excellent words to keep in mind when one is thinking about the decor in one’s dwelling or even, in certain instances, one’s workplace, and how it can reflect and define those words.
This does not mean that an extreme makeover is necessary. Both home and workplace decor can be changed by simply adding wall art and canvas pieces that reflect the moods of summer. If the home is the recipient of the changes in decor, the one doing the redecorating may want to step back and determine exactly what sort of artwork needs to go in each room. The room that is used most for casual entertaining can showcase wall art and canvas pieces that invite those who enter to relax and have fun. Artwork with a whimsical feel would work well in such a room. No one wants to eat in a crowded, gloomy restaurant, so why would they want to do so in one’s home. Dining rooms and/or eating areas benefit from pieces that give an open effect to a room.
Think about taking down and storing, at least until summer is over, artwork that has dark or muted colors. Or, if the colors are acceptable, and it is possible, consider changing the darker framing for one made of lighter wood or other material. This may be all that is needed to change a piece of artwork from a winter piece to a summer piece.
Bedrooms can reflect one’s personal preferences or taste. The only thing that should be kept in mind is that the subject of any wall art should produce a calming effect, so as not to interfere with the occupants’ rest.
